Mayville Engineering Company Inc. Installs Press Pads for Noise Reduction
This is Number 962 of the two larger presses that operate at the new MEC facility on Horicon Street. You can see the newly installed pads under the press to help prevent vibration and noise. The three smaller presses also have their pads in place and work was being done to complete the work on the other large press. When standing near the press, you could not feel any vibrations when the press was in operation.
Mayville Engineering Company shows the specially designed pads that are being installed under the presses at MEC's Horicon Street location. The pads dramatically lessen the vibrations previously felt when the machines are in use. Standing a few feet away, you can not feel the vibrations.
This is the last of the two big presses, No. 1254, that is ready to have the pads installed that help deaden the vibrations and noise. The press has to be lifted off the pit so the installation can be done. When it is complete, the press will be higher off the floor, so all the connecting equipment also has to be modified.
