Reloader Wins Reader's Choice Award
The readers of Sporting Clays magazine have selected the MEC 650 as their favorite reloading machine in the
1998 Sporting Clay's “Reader’s Choice Awards.”
Beginners to professionals enjoy custom loading their own shotshells with MEC reloading equipment tailored for
everyone. The 650 is a progressive press built for all gauges except 10 ga. It can reload non-toxic shot up to
3” hulls.
Although we all know that MEC makes the best reloaders on the planet, it is gratifying that so many customers agree.
More than any product we make, the reloaders represent the “Ted Bachhuber” legacy of excellent design, manufacturing,
and service. We are renowned throughout the world for our great product and great treatment of customers.
Congratulations to all the good MEC folks who are part of this wonderful success story.
Welding Achievement Award
In June 1998, Mayville Engineering Company was
selected in the first annual Welding Achievement Awards sponsored by
Welding Design & Fabrication magazine. MEC was one of only three
winners.
MEC Aerial Lift Design Wins Award
Mayville Engineering Company was bestowed another prestigious honor. The Wisconsin Society of Professional Engineers
(WSPE) presented MEC a first place award at the 29th Annual Governor's New Product Award (GNPA) program for MEC's
innovative single-"X" scissor design.
This design was singled out from other competitors, due to its unique design and distinguishing features. Our
design reduces the physical space of the elevating system and allows for improved serviceability of components.
The cylinder is placed on the outside of the scissors along with the equalizer bar, thus preventing bowing. This
space-saving design allows for easy access to the battery pack and opens an area on the base of the unit to place
hydraulic and electrical components up front and accessible.
For nearly three decades, the GNPA program has recognized Wisconsin manufacturers who contribute to the state's
economic growth through development, manufacturing, and marketing of new and innovative products. This premiere
competition is sponsored annually by WSPE in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. The program
was developed to focus on emerging technologies, recognize the contribution of engineers in new product development,
and encourage the pursuit of science and engineering careers.
Although the award was conceived and originated in Wisconsin, it became the model for the National New Product
Award sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Manufacturer of the Year
In 1996 Mayville Engineering won the
Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce Association's (WMC)
Manufacturer of the Year award for a second time. MEC won the award
in 1992 as well.
In its announcement, WMC said "Mayville
Engineering Co., Inc. has flourished since its employees became part
owners over a decade ago, purchasing 40 percent of the company.
Since that time, the company has seen its annual sales grow from $18
million to $116 million, or an increase of 500 percent in 10 years."
